This law firm, led by attorney Marco Del Toro, reports that the decision to conclude the legal representation of former governor Javier Duarte de Ochoa, was made for reasons separate from the client, but those reasons are part of the attorney-client privilege, so it is our obligation to keep it confidential.

The defense provided by this law firm in the criminal cases of former governor Duarte de Ochoa is legally sound, so it will surely be resumed by the colleague or colleagues appointed by him, to successfully resume the case. The accusations are so fragile that they should not be able to withstand legal proceedings, beyond irrational public accusations that have no substance whatsoever, since they are mere perceptions that are at odds with the evidence in the case files.

The right to freedom is extremely important, which is why this firm will contribute to speed up the transition, according to the ethical rules of professional practice.

Given the special circumstances that motivated this decision, already explained to our former client, the handover will take place at an appropriate time, and in an orderly manner, since the federal accusations are unstable and are subject to a temporality that will allow, without a doubt, the adequate preparation for the next hearing, still months away; also, the case will already have a solid legal foundation. As for the local accusations, they have not yet even begun, apart from the fact that they are far from being truthful or well-founded.
